Somersworth area residents will soon have another source for locally grown food and other items. The Strafford County Public Health Network is launching Somersworth’s first farmers market on Thursday June 4th. The Somersworth Farmers Market will run every Thursday through September 24th from 3:00pm-6:00pm at Goodwin Community Health, 311 Route 108 Somersworth, NH.

The Somersworth Farmers Market has partnered with Seacoast Eat Local to be able to accept SNAP/EBT cards. Through this partnership, a matching program is available to all SNAP recipients. The matching program doubles SNAP purchases dollar for dollar, for up to $10, allowing SNAP recipients to double their spending power. The Somersworth Farmers Market is part of the Strafford County Public Health Network’s Community Health Improvement Plan to reduce obesity and improve nutrition in Strafford County.

The Somersworth Farmers Market offers plenty of free parking. The convenient location at Goodwin Community Health along the busy Route 108 corridor makes it easy for commuters to stop by and brings great visibility for farmers and event vendors. The Somersworth Farmers Market is also accessible via the COAST bus.
“We want to be a source for healthy food for everyone. Increasing access to nutrition is one of our top goals,” says Liz Clark of The Strafford County Public Health Network. “We hope the Market will enhance the sense of community in Somersworth, help our local farmers and businesses, and improve availability of healthy, locally grown food.”
