Thursday December 5th 5:30 – 7:30pm @ Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Garrison Wing Auditorium
Compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma, and burnout; these are just some of the challenges that professionals face when working with survivors of trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACES). These complexities are often met with one simple solution: improving self-care. But is it that simple? This community forum will go beyond professional resiliency building to examine systematic approaches and interpersonal solutions towards dealing with trauma. How can organizations support their employees and prevent/or manage compassion fatigue? How can professionals change their approaches, limit their exposure, manage themselves, and prevent re-traumatization of themselves or those they work with?
Join us for a panel discussion as we explore these questions and more, and allow for a networking opportunity with a light dinner. This forum is designed for people working in sectors ranging from substance use disorder treatment, education, child-protection, sexual assault and domestic violence services, physical and mental health care, first responders and more. This is a FREE event, but registration is required.
