The Diabetes Self-Management Program (DSMP) is a 6 week group program for people 18+ with type 2 diabetes, and is open to the public.
This program, developed by Stanford University, can help you deal with the symptoms of diabetes – including tiredness, pain and emotional issues – by helping you learn how to eat and sleep better, mange your day-to-day activities more effectively and more!
This interactive workshop meets once per week for 6 weeks on Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
Topics will include:
– Techniques to deal with symptoms of diabetes – fatigue, pain, hyper/hypoglycemia, stress and emotional problems such as depression, anger, fear and frustration
– Appropriate exercises for maintaining and improving strength and endurance
– Healthy eating
– Taking medication as prescribed
– Working more effectively with health care providers
This program will run throughout the entire year.
